The most impressive and longest European bridge over the Tagus River, stretching for 17 km. The grandiose design was erected in just 3 years, despite the incredible scale of the project. The bridge was launched on March 29, 1998. This date was not chosen by chance, since it was in 1498 that Vasco da Gama set sail on the sea route from Europe to India. The bridge was built with funds from the private company Lusoponte.

Pretty impressive, the Vasco da Gama Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge flanked by viaducts that spans the Tagus River in Portugal. It’s the 2nd longest bridge in Europe. We saw it from the Park of Nations as well as from the cable car.

Vasco da Gama Bridge is a very famous bridge which connects two different cities. It is the second longest bridge in Europe with six road lanes.
It is undeniable that Ponte Vasco da Gama is certainly not as charismatic as Lisbon’s other bridge.. Read more », the golden arched Ponte 25 de Abril, but its sheer size and length that stretches out into the horizon is an engineering marvel.
In overall, I strongly recommend people to visit this place. 🙏

The Vasco da gama bridge is a long bridge and a sight to behold. I was amazed to see how far this bridge streches above Tagus river. Also note: Toll has to be payed when travelling TOWARDS Lisbon. Outgoing traffic does not have to pay toll.
