The building of the museum is located on the top of the Bergisel hill, where in 1809 the invincible Napoleonic army faced a handful of brave Tyrolean peasants led by the brave A. Gopher. Despite the numerical superiority, the Tyroleans still managed to defeat the enemy. The exposition "Panoramas of Tyrol" is dedicated to this heroic feat. A monument to A. Gofer was erected near the museum building.

The painting in the panaroma room has been located in a great place where is exactly the same hill seeing the beautiful mountains of Innsbruck. Normally, this place wasn't in my list but I decided to see here as well when I got the combo museum .. Read more »ticket after Hofkirche.

Good place. There is a viewpoint outside with an amazing view of the whole city. Museums aren't worth your time but the panorama room is very good. Interesting, worth the visit

The panorama is amazing. Beautiful to see all the information about this special mountain. It is also great to combine this with the ski jumping facilities. Unfortunately most information signs are only in German...

I only went due to having bought the Innsbruck card. Not worth the money if you don’t have the card. The only thing that was nice was the panoramic view

If you like to visit a historical museum/war museum and learn about the history of Innsbruck this is a very nice attraction.

Beautiful museum at a great spot. All of available exhibitions are very well presented and offer many things to see and learn. The 360° painting of the battle in which Tirol troops fought against French and Bavarians is really stunning. The staff.. Read more » was very helpful. The only downside is that most of descriptions of the exhibits are German only. It would be great if everything was in English as well.

Interesting museum, describing not only an important event in the history of Tirol but also how history is framed in a particular way to construct a sense of identity.
Most of the written information is in German however - I also think there might b.. Read more »e more info available through an audio guide or app, since parts of the exhibition had very sparse descriptions and some numbers scattered throughout, but unfortunately I didn't hear anything about that before going in. Would be nice if the people at the ticket office would inform visitors about it.
The painting itself is also quite fascinating - I liked that the railings pointed out the places and people you can see on it, though I would have appreciated a couple of key words saying who the people are, as I couldn't place all the names.
All in all - definitely worth visiting if you're interested in history, art and/or the construction of identity, but make sure to get an audio guide or app in order to get all the information!
The walk to get up there is also quite nice.

A fantastic place to visit on a clear blue sky. Park close by and visit the museums, the cafe or walk up to the ski jump. Views northwards over Innsbruck to the NordKette and east / west down the Inn valley. Stunning.

Amazing place... You can view the city from top.. I did not go to the museum. The entry fee is 9€ but the nearby place is good. The area is surrounded by park which increases the beauty of the place.
