The monument is erected at the entrance to Maria Theresa street. It was created in 1765 in honor of the marriage of Archduke Leopold and Princess Maria Louise. However, before the wedding, the husband of Maria Theresa, Franz I, died, so the arch commemorates not only a happy marriage, but also acts as a memorial monument in honor of the emperor. The arch is decorated with bas-reliefs depicting representatives of the Habsburg dynasty, as well as state emblems.

It's kind of an arc de triumph gate which you will find in many EU countries. It's very near to the innsbruck station, it can be reached on a 5-10mins walk.

Not exactly eye-catching if you are not there, but a historical place to visit. It would be advantageous to research the history in advance via Google, otherwise you won't be able to do much with it. In my opinion, there is no mirror to make cyclists or other vehicles visible. It can happen that someone overlooks the traffic lights. I hope nothing happens.

I first noticed it on the way to the accommodation from the Hauptbahnhof. I managed to make my way back a few days later to take a closer look.
