St. Basil's Cathedral

Moscow, Russia
4.8 / 93
st-basil-s-cathedral
The cathedral was founded on the orders of Ivan the Terrible as a thank you to the Lord for help in taking Kazan. Initially, the building had gold domes and red-white walls. After the fire in the XVIII century, as a result of restoration, the temple was painted in bright colors and now it rises above Red Square like a multi-colored gingerbread. The name was given in honor of the holy fool Vasily the Blessed, who collected part of the money for the construction of the church and transferred it to Ivan the Terrible.

So maybe just not my cup of tea. I found it mildly interesting but felt the 1000 ruble entry was out of proportion to the other much more interesting places we visited. It's far more impressive from the outside.
