Like any good European zoo, the Salzburg Zoo supports the concept of a natural habitat for animals. They try to keep the animals in conditions close to natural ones. The territory of the zoo is divided into zones: "savannah", "steppe", "mountains", "forest" and others. Each animal is kept in a corresponding "natural zone", which creates the most comfortable conditions for the health and life of the zoo's inhabitants.

Nice little zoo. Perfect for a morning
Some animals we could see, however the value for money was still good.
Enclosures were large and all animals seemed happy

Was expecting more after reading other reviews. Nice little zoo, but not much more than this. The price is very reasonable and fair.
Didn't get to eat there, so I can't say anything about the food.

Very nice zoo. I loved that the spaces for the animals try to mimic their natural environment (obviously is not perfect, but they aren’t in cages). A fabulous zoo. Do not miss. It is not huge but it is located below a mountain wall and the animals have very large and natural habitats. Visit the Hellbrunn Park after, the Wasserspiele are also nice if you have never toured them.

One of my favorite zoos as you get so close to the animals and their habitats seem to mirror their natural habitats. Really fun for kids as they get to see the animals up close. A large selection of monkeys and large cats.

Keeping animals enclosed is never a good idea, however if we still do it then this place should be the minimum standard accepted. Well maintained, plenty of place and shadow to each animal. Child friendly with playing areas.
