Pripyat Amusement Park is a truly unique and unforgettable experience. While it may not be open to the public, it is the most famous and radioactive attraction in Pripyat. Despite its abandonment, the park still showcases the wonders and excitement of an amusement park, although some of the attractions could use a fresh coat of paint. Set against the backdrop of the tragic events that unfolded in Chernobyl, visiting this park is not only a thrilling adventure but also a somber reminder of the consequences of human error. The park holds immense historical significance, and it is crucial to remember the heroes who prevented an even greater catastrophe. Taking a guided tour with chornobyl-tour.ua is highly recommended, as their knowledgeable guides provide valuable information about the past events and the area itself. Keep in mind that the tour lasts all day, and there is a shop before entering the exclusion zone, which is the last opportunity for any necessary supplies. Additionally, a lunch is provided at the power plant's food hall, offering a taste of authentic Soviet-era cuisine. If you visit during the winter, be prepared for extremely cold temperatures, which only add to the eerie atmosphere. For an extra dose of excitement, you can even rent a Geiger counter to monitor radiation levels during your visit. Before entering the zone, you will be given a special dosimeter to track your radiation exposure. Overall, a visit to Pripyat Amusement Park is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave a lasting impression and serve as a powerful lesson in the consequences of human actions.

Incredibly sad story and immensely important to remember. What man can build and how wrong it can turn out. It is a great learning experience to see this with your own eyes.

Huge amount of history. Not many may know that events unfolded there, if not for all the heroes, would trigger apocalypse level event..
Going there with chornobyl-tour.ua (official touring company for the area) was absolutely great choice.
Our guide .. Read more »Elena was really wonderful guide - she knew really huge amount of information about past events and the place itself
The tour takes all day.
There is a shop right before entering the exclusion zone. It's the last shop for the tour!
There is a lunch at the power plants food hall (expect real Soviet era type of food, it's not bad, it's just.. you have to experience it to understand)
I've been there during the winter time, and it was COLD (-20°C / -4°F). But the snow definitely did add some eerie vibe to the experience.
You can rent a Geiger counter to have some fun too.
At entry you get to put a special dosimeter on your neck which will stay there until you'll leave the zone (this way they'll know how much radiation your body received)

After seeing the disaster happening on TV. Never did I think I would get to experiance this place for real. I have travelled extensively but this ranks as the best experience I've had. It's saddening to walk round and hits home just how bad.. Read more » things where yet seeing it 30+ years later and how nature now owns the place its stunning yet deserted and crumbling and quite errie. The silence on a place where time stood still after that awful day just blows you away.
I shall visit again and if your in the Ukraine this is a must do tour. It changes with the seasons so be prepared in summer being fully clothed ( arms and legs must be covered) it's very hot.
Not just the amusement park but chernobyl and chernobyl 2 and reactor.
Thankyou to Jenny our guide and the Ukraine for the hospitality and this experiance.

In 1986, the city of Slavutych was constructed to replace Pripyat. After the city of Chernobyl, this was the second-largest city for accommodating power plant workers and scientists in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)... Read more »
One notable landmark often featured in photographs of the city and visible from aerial-imaging websites is the long-abandoned Ferris wheel located in the Pripyat amusement park, which had been scheduled to have its official opening five days after the disaster, in time for May Day celebrations The Azure Swimming Pool and Avanhard Stadium are two other popular tourist sites.
On 4 February 2020, former residents of Pripyat gathered in the abandoned city to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pripyat's establishment.
During the 2020 Chernobyl Exclusion Zone wildfires, the flames reached the outskirts of the town; they did not reach the plant.

Sometimes the radiation made be blackout and now I have cancer, 6 fingers, 2 stomachs, and am as tall as a skyscraper.

My friend broke his leg when we were walking from the apartments, but we sat down to enjoy the scenery behind the ferris wheel and some Russian tourists came to visit in helicopters. We even managed to hitch a ride with the American tourists!

Majestically beautiful, yet haunting and sorrowful. Mixed emotions. If you are thinking if visiting, do it! I would recommend a private tour guide @ChernobylInsider on Instagram ?

Amazing day out with the kids, the lines were really short so we could go on it as many times as we liked. Also it was very authentic Soviet style. We especially liked the Ferris Wheel. I even got an extra finger as a souvenir.
However, I do not rat.. Read more »e this 5/5 soley because someone was telling us we can't be here the entire time. Still, I would 100% return next time.
