Osobnyak Kapitana Chetkova

"Osobnyak Kapitana Chetkova" is a magnificent building with a rich history and beautiful architectural design. Constructed in 1910 in the Art Nouveau style, it was originally built for retired officer Alexander Chetkov and was the most expensive residential building in Vinnitsa at that time. The house later served as a maternity hospital in the 60s and is now home to the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. With its more than 110 years of existence, it is fortunate that this building is protected by law and being maintained. However, it is disheartening to see many similar mansions in a state of abandonment. The exterior of the building is truly impressive and worth taking a few moments to appreciate. Situated on the slopes of the Southern Bug, it offers unobstructed views, giving it an almost divine aura. While the architecture of "Osobnyak Kapitana Chetkova" is well-preserved, there is unfortunately nothing left of its historic interior. The building's authentic condition adds to its charm, but it would have been intriguing to explore its past. It is important to note that during a visit, a passerby mentioned calling security, indicating the need for caution and respect for the property. Overall, this building is an authentic architectural gem that deserves attention and appreciation.
