The main theater of Prague, which is considered one of the symbols of the national revival of the Czech people. It was erected at the people's expense, since the Austro-Hungarian government did not allocate money. The opening took place in 1881, but soon the theater burned down and reopened in 1883. The building adorns the Vltava embankment and is not inferior in beauty even to the famous Vienna Opera. The interior is made with grace and luxury.

Wonderful intimate house, lavish in decoration, great sightlines and acoustics, and comfortable seats too. The company is very strong and the orchestra has the characterful wind playing you only get here.
3 Pizzas to go
This is a cool theatre with a retro look straight from the eighties. Nice venues for kids as well with a cosy foie to chill before and after the show. Conveniently located in the center it s a must if you are visiting Prague.

Today the National Theatre consists of three artistic ensembles: opera, ballet and drama. They alternate in their performances in the historic building of the National Theatre, in the Theatre of the Estates and in the Kolowrat Theatre. All three artistic ensembles select their repertoire both from classical heritage, and modern authors.
What a great place to see an opera! I saw the Barber of Seville and it was amazing. When I retire I want to move to Prague for all the arts and culture (and the amazing beer). Highly recommended!
One of the utmost symbols of czech culture and arts! This building alone is enough for me to be proud to be living here. Check their website for concerts or plays. Most performances have English subtitles…
Amazing place with history. Unfortunately the production we visited (bpm) was not good S expected and didn’t match the reputation of the National theatre but overall very pleasant evening. The views from the terrace is breathtaking ?
Beautiful building and great performance. Stage technique is not the most modern but was used very efficiently to create an enjoyable opera experience. Singers and orchestra performed well. Tickets are quite affordable.
Great place, very beautiful exterior and interior. The performances are always top. Definitely recommend to visit both balconies (including the top one) during the break for amazing views.
What an amazing place! We are here to see beauty and the beast and we are very excited. People are dressed for the occasion which iou might also want to be. You can buy drinks and small snacks inside the entrance.

We got to see Carmen, it was great !
Amazing! Highly recommend Nutcracker ❤️
Make sure you climb to the roof - the view at the Prague Castle from there is breathtaking.

The stage design was too modern and unpleasant to watch. I’d have preferred something more traditional. Also, the stage machinery is very lacking and outdated as compared to the Staatsoper in Vienna. I sat in the gallery, which was too high for full enjoyment. My seat was very small and very uncomfortable. Perhaps the Opera management should do some improvements?
Interior is nice, and the prices are very very cheap, though one can see why, as the costume design is lacking. We saw Rusalka, which a story I adore, but I was struggling so much not falling asleep. It's nice that they have also English subtitl.. Read more »es tho
