The main theater of Prague, which is considered one of the symbols of the national revival of the Czech people. It was erected at the people's expense, since the Austro-Hungarian government did not allocate money. The opening took place in 1881, but soon the theater burned down and reopened in 1883. The building adorns the Vltava embankment and is not inferior in beauty even to the famous Vienna Opera. The interior is made with grace and luxury.

Wonderful intimate house, lavish in decoration, great sightlines and acoustics, and comfortable seats too. The company is very strong and the orchestra has the characterful wind playing you only get here.

This is a cool theatre with a retro look straight from the eighties. Nice venues for kids as well with a cosy foie to chill before and after the show. Conveniently located in the center it s a must if you are visiting Prague.

The stage design was too modern and unpleasant to watch. I’d have preferred something more traditional. Also, the stage machinery is very lacking and outdated as compared to the Staatsoper in Vienna.
