On the island you can watch the process of creating masterpieces or visit one of the many shops offering local craftsmen's products for every taste. Murano glass is a well-known global brand, highly valued outside of Italy.

If you like to see how things are made (in this case hand made glass) it's the place to be. You can visit a family factory and be amazed by the work of the Maestros. Then you can enjoy a nice meal and a good coffee.

So many lovely glass shops! Great for souvenirs! The island was super quiet when I went (around 5-6pm). Got the vaporetto day pass for €25 and chose to stop off here. Glad I did not do a tour. Was nice to explore on my own. Don’t need more.. Read more » than a couple hours here.

Very easy to reach by boat, Murano is a nice option to spend an afternoon if you have extra time in Venice. There’s no need for expensive tours, from the pier F.te Nove “B”, you can take the ferry 4.1 for just $5,00; the journey tak.. Read more »es around 8 minutes. Once you are there, you can watch a glass blow presentation for about $15. There’s not much else to do other than that, just walk along the canals, admiring the little houses, boats, colors and the whole atmosphere of the place.

Very crowded bus station from Venice to Murano. Would recommend to go early in the morning to avoid long queue. Many glass stores and was able to see their factory at the back of their store. Other than that, lovely island and worth a visit.

The place is nice. It's more laidback from Venice. But it is worth a visit. Don't be duped by the free tour scam. Just go to the museum and watch the demo. Spend your time window shopping the beautiful ornaments made from glass.
