Venice, Italy

muranomuranomuranomuranomurano
An archipelago of small five islands, on which Venetian glass products have been manufactured for hundreds of years. From here glassmaking spread throughout Venice. On the island you can watch the process of creating masterpieces or visit one of the many shops offering local craftsmen's products for every taste. Murano glass is a well-known global brand, highly valued outside of Italy.

If you like to see how things are made (in this case hand made glass) it's the place to be. You can visit a family factory and be amazed by the work of the Maestros. Then you can enjoy a nice meal and a good coffee.

So many lovely glass shops! Great for souvenirs! The island was super quiet when I went (around 5-6pm). Got the vaporetto day pass for €25 and chose to stop off here. Glad I did not do a tour. Was nice to explore on my own. Don’t need more.. Read more »

Very easy to reach by boat, Murano is a nice option to spend an afternoon if you have extra time in Venice. There’s no need for expensive tours, from the pier F.te Nove “B”, you can take the ferry 4.1 for just $5,00; the journey tak.. Read more »

Very crowded bus station from Venice to Murano. Would recommend to go early in the morning to avoid long queue. Many glass stores and was able to see their factory at the back of their store. Other than that, lovely island and worth a visit.

Colorful little island off Venice. It can get really windy on rainy days so take note it can be cold. The island is full of glass shops that sell "Murano" glass. Do note that most of the glass on the island is now made else where (mass prod.. Read more »

A nice place to go if you have time. The experience is fun. Don’t feel obliged to buy from the factory you take the tour, you may find the same cheaper products in shops ;)

Must go if you’re on a 2-3 day Venice trip. Do not buy the glass items from the factory or shop you see right at the water boat stop. Walk a little further to find better deals.

Avoid the free offers to tour the glass making place. Way overpriced and if you don’t buy some of their overpriced glass the leave you stranded on the island.

You need to buy some glass here. Do not chump out and not not buy a chandelier. Ship to you house. There are many glass shops. I recommend one of those glassblowing workshops from airbnb.

Enjoyed La Bocca del Fuoco 2020, part of Venice Glass Week, organised by Venezia Runners, dramatic way to tour the workshops and furnaces by night with plenty of action and great party to finish.

The place is nice. It's more laidback from Venice. But it is worth a visit. Don't be duped by the free tour scam. Just go to the museum and watch the demo. Spend your time window shopping the beautiful ornaments made from glass.

The shops are all the same. Glass, glass, glass, just glass. Nice but boring.
