The best Opera I've been so far. Awesome acoustics. Dream world performance without air raid from the Russians.

Historical building with absolutly amazing interior and style. The entrance costs only few euros (100 hryvias) which is more than affordable for the touch and sense of the Grandeur of old times.-)

What a fantastic place. The show was brilliant and professional for the price of £8! In England that would easily be £70+. I would recommend this to absolutely everyone. Bring a drink with you, there’s no refreshments.

It is a nice Opera house but not as impressive nor comfortable as the Odessa one. Paradoxal for a city with overall nicer architecture than Odessa.
It is small and narrow, which makes that many (cheap) seats on the top/sides have practically no view .. Read more »on the stage. Strange to the point that I wonder why they sell those for a show where you might want/need to see what is going on. Perhaps for a concert those are fine, if you only listen to the music...

I loved it simply because it’s architecturally amazingly designed. A lovely sight from morning to evening time and with the big public space around it, you can enjoy the place freely, alone or in family

I visited Lviv Opera on September 16, 2018 (Sunday). It was during performance of Aida by Giuseppe Verdi.
This beautiful theatre is designed similarly as many opera buildings built at that time (eg. Mahen Theater in Brno, Czech Republik, or Slowacki .. Read more »Theater in Krakow, Poland). It has an elegant staircase, luxurious Mirror Foyer, and beautiful interior of the opera hall. The excellent curtain painted by Henryk Siemiradzki is on display before performance starts. The painting figures on the curtain are explained by speaking recording which is done only in Ukrainian language (despite availability of translating text to electronic dashboard above the stage window). And during performance the only translation of opera's original text is done on the dashboard only into Ukrainian language.
Staging of this AIDA is traditional, and opera singers are from local opera troupe. The best was Aida (by vocal and expressive terms), and the worst was Radames (who was often cheating by not finishing/ cutting his vocal phrases).
Aida is long, and in addition was made even longer by its three breaks. During breaks no refreshments were available in the opera building. The buffet is in the local called Livyy Bereh, which is located on right wing of the building. As opera's ushers explained us, the management of Livyy Bereh simply closed their venue for operagoers because they had their own closed private party on that day. I never in my entire life attended any opera theatre in the whole world - that did not have at least a simple stand with drinks and snacks. But this is not the end. By making my research, I found out that Livyy Bereh is not simple place just located in Lviv Opera's building. Inside it has some memorabilia related to past artists, like Solomiya Krushelnytska - famous diva (opera is named after her name). By closing this place, I was not able to see these precious items. And it was my only day in Lviv with chance to go to opera!
Although I visited Lviv with group (excursion), I had my own reservation for one parter seat. I was told that reservation would be held till 13:00 on the day of performance, but instead it was cancelled, and my reserve ticked was released for sale. I was lucky that no one bought the seat, and my friends bought me that seat on the morning of performance after box office just opened... I would love to buy my ticket in advance, but the reservation system which Opera uses (Kontramarca.ua) is discriminating customers located abroad of Ukraine - by not allowing purchases (it is asking not only for email, but also for telephone number, and both my New York's numbers - cell & stationary - couldn't go through).
I am giving only two stars because poor experiences with booking system, and closed buffet during performance.

Lviv’s resplendent opera house is one of the city’s symbols and stands alone on Freedom Square.

The theatre was then built onto a concrete platform, and after sinking for a couple of years eventually stabilised.
Almost 120 years later, this marvellous venue remains the place to get a blast of high culture at a matinee or evening performance, where seats are implausibly inexpensive.
In residence is a 90-piece orchestra, first-class soloists and a ballet troupe, all with an extensive repertoire.
