In the 15th century, on the site of the modern park, there was a court garden, from where vegetables and herbs were delivered to the imperial table. Centuries later, a magnificent landscape park was laid out in the English style with flower beds, lawns and pavilions for relaxation. There is a group of trees in the park that were planted by the Archduchess Maria Theresia herself. The Hofgarten is located next to the royal palace.

Nice garden, small but nice. Just outside for some reason there is dodgy guy by the toilets charging 70 eurocents for use of toilet but once you pat he takes your money and drops half of it into machine.

I was there for Lumagica light show. Magical moments ruined by many people who did not queue up to take pictures with the exhibits. It was not difficult to take turn to take a few sec to take pictures.

This was just my personal experience with all the factors mentioned above. The garden might be a better place if timing is good.

Really pretty garden, even if it didn't particularly stand out to me compared to other gardens I've been to. I went there during the time they had it decorated for Christmas, which was beautiful. I found this to be a lovely little park in the city center. It was nice to go through the park and relax with the nice secluded feeling.
Plenty was happening throughout the time there, but to find a nice place for yourself isn't too hard.

5-stars = must visit. Free & beautiful. Plenty of benches and open grass to relax have a picnic, take a pause, or let the little ones use up some energy.
