The exposition was opened in two stages. The first one fell on 2004 and was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the country from the Nazis. The museum complex was fully operational in a year. 2 floors with 8 halls tell the story of the military glory of the city and Belarus. In the open air 35 units of military equipment, including tanks and aircraft, are exhibited. On the basis of this museum in 2010 the Museum of Forensics was created.

Thoughtful regional museum punching above its weight.
Surprising number of much appreciated English translations. That’s quite unusual and certainly broadens accessibility to mainstream tourist audience. This comment applies to TOP-LEVEL narra.. Read more »tive and not so much individual captions. Big win if museum translates all the way down as I’d have wished to learn about specific photos, documents, and artifacts that were captioned but not translated.
Focus is regional, not big picture, and they do a good job covering their corner of history.
Crammed in a shockingly tiny space behind is a ton of military hardware, much of it post-WWII. Another big win if museum translates outdoor identification placards to English.
Staff was highly suspicious of this foreigner, but that’s the norm. They keep a proximate and watchful eye.

Pretty big collection of tanks outside, but nothing else more to see... We had to pay 2.25BYR because we were foreigners, while locals pay only 1.something BYR.
