The Town Hall was erected in the 15th century according to the design of G. Hetzel. The first building was built in the Gothic style. After a fire of the mid-16th century, it acquired the features of Mannerism. The Town Hall Tower is crowned with the figure of King Sigismund II, created in 1561. The best masters of that time worked on the interior. The building houses a city museum with an interesting historical exposition.

The museum of the city is small, but interesting, unfortunately almost half of the exhibition is paintings of modern art that no one needs. The history museum is located in the heart of the city, very easy to reach.
Although the place looks small inside it is full of exclusive paintings of the city and some private artists.

In the museum we can find information about how the rulers lived and also how the beginning of the war was lived, they show us the costumes of the sailors as well as the scale war tanks.
This museum has a little bit of everything and is a walk full of information and also a delight to lovers of art and antique objects, a sample from ancient times before the war and after.

We were there this past Monday as free museum entrance, though the roof view is never free. Worth it regardless! The museum itself is somewhat interesting: incredible photos of the devastation of WWII and the Great Council Hall is MARVELLOUS 🤩 The re.. Read more »st of the exhibits are only mildly interesting. So worth it to pay for the view! Steps are quite wide to the top or bottom, very different from the usual narrow, circular steps in medieval buildings to the roofs.

Some fantastic rooms, though the exhibitions are a little dull. The exhibition about Gdansk after WWII is quite moving however. Free on Mondays (though the tower is closed during the winter)

I like this museum, but its permanent exhibition can be lacking in content - timed ones tend to be more interesting.
