The Dominican Monastery is an intriguing architectural monument with a fascinating history. Although it has been undergoing reconstruction since a fire damaged the bell tower in 1994, services are still held here and the shrine is open to the public. Despite the ongoing restoration efforts, much progress has already been made, and the monastery looks impressive. This site holds significant importance in Polish history, as it stands as a testament to the struggles endured during times of war and Soviet occupation. Thanks to the efforts of the Paulines and Polish foundations, this twenty-sixth-century church and monastery have been partially restored. It is definitely a must-see when visiting Kamieniec. One notable feature within the monastery is a beautifully crafted pulpit, believed to have been built by the wife of Murat the 4th. Its intricate embroidery-like design sets it apart and makes it a rare find in a church. The monastery itself is a colossal and awe-inspiring structure, leaving visitors impressed. While the restoration is still ongoing, it is evident that this monument will become a true masterpiece once completed. It is a shame that the monastery is currently closed, possibly due to quarantine restrictions, as it has an authentic and captivating appearance that would be worth experiencing. However, the presence of construction works is a positive sign that the site is being conserved and preserved. The architecture of the monastery is undeniably beautiful and warrants a visit.

Quite an interesting architectural monument with a rich history. The monastery has been under reconstruction since the bell tower was set on fire since 1994, but services are held here and the shrine is open to the public. Worth a visit.

The pulpit, which was built by the wife of Murat the 4th, is still shining. Embroidered like embroidery. I think it is not very likely to come across a pulpit in a church.

Despite the fact that the church is under reconstruction - it still looks majestic?
You can learn more about its history from the paintings and documents that are located at the entrance.
And even better can tell a guide?

St. Nicholas Church and Dominican Monastery. They are located in the old part of the city, forming its unique historical atmosphere. I believe that this is one of the cards of Kamyanets-Podilsky. The church has preserved three naves and a baroque tower on the main facade to this day. Belongs to the type of basil. The central nave is of the same length and height as the altar, still a Gothic part, to which the chapels (vaulted, northern and so.. Read more »uthern) are attached. The silhouette of the church is enriched by the rounded domes of the southern and northern Renaissance chapels. In the interiors of the chapels (in the domes) there are remnants of stucco Renaissance stucco. Chapels are the brightest examples of the Renaissance in Kamianets-Podilskyi. The three naves of the church have cross vaults with elastic arches. Inside, the central nave is connected to the side naves by high arches; now it does not have natural light, because the former round windows are covered with stone. The interior decorations belong to the 18th century — these are cartouches, fluted pilasters, rococo and eclectic moldings. The entrance arches to the chapels are created in the form of "deaf" two-column porticos with torn triangular pediments in the Baroque style. The walls of the church are made of stone on a limestone solution, plastered. Modern gable roofs with a fold, covered with modern iron. Lighting is through skylights, there is no dome, a signature has been created. The altar part from the outside is faceted with buttresses and Gothic windows.
The bell tower is baroque, has three tiers. The lower tier is decorated with pilasters of the Doric order and a broken pediment, the middle one with the Ionic order, and the upper one with the composite order. The belfry is crowned by a tent roof with a balustrade and a spire. The facade of the second tier preserved the sculptures.
