Cimiez Monastery is a hidden gem in Nice, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling crowds. I had the privilege of enjoying a private stroll around the monastery and its enchanting gardens, even during the busy month of June. The atmosphere was breezy and quiet, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the cultural experience. The monastery itself is a beautifully preserved historic site, perfect for those seeking solace and a moment of reflection away from the chaos of city life. The gardens, particularly in May and summer, are a sight to behold, bursting with vibrant flowers and teeming with life. Walking through them brought a sense of tranquility to my mind, allowing me to escape from the worries of the world. Inside the monastery, I discovered stunning works of art, including paintings, frescoes, and intricate mosaics adorning the windows. The scent of candles filled the air, evoking a sense of reverence and connecting me to the past. In this serene environment, I found myself contemplating our place in the universe and the path we walk in life. One aspect that impressed me about the monastery was its inner courtyard, where I was treated to delightful music that added to the overall experience. Additionally, the garden itself was a lovely oasis, offering a picturesque view of the city of Nice. Sadly, photography is not allowed inside the monastery church, which is a shame as it features a magnificent painted ceiling. However, a walk around the gardens proved to be a welcome relief from the busy streets of the city. Overall, Cimiez Monastery is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Nice. Its serene atmosphere, cultural significance, breathtaking views, and free admission make it a worthwhile experience. Whether you seek a moment of solitude, an appreciation for art, or simply a break from the city chaos, this monastery has it all.

Tranquil place to escape crowds in Nice. Had more or less a private stroll around the Monastery and gardens (in June!). In short: breezy, quiet, cultural, views, and free! Well worth if you’re visiting Nice.

Lovely building and beautiful, tranquil garden. Unfortunately no photos allowed inside the monastery church - pity as it has a magnificent painted ceiling. A walk around the gardens is a relief from the busy city
