Therefore, it happened that the church in Grechany was not able to receive a large number of parishioners. Looking at this situation, Fr. Vytaultas Merkes - the then rector of St. Anna's parish - appealed to the local authorities to purchase a plot of land for the construction of a new church, closer to the city center, since St. Anna's church was located on the outskirts, which was poorly developed transport connection.
The city administration considered the spiritual father's request and finally, in 1990, gave permission to purchase the land. And already in January 1991, a temporary chapel was built under the patronage of Christ the King of the Universe. Fr. Czeslav Szymanskiy MIS was appointed as abbot, assisted by Fr. Krzysztof Erdzik MIS.
At the same time, the design and actual construction of a large church designed to meet the needs of the regional center began, which was consecrated on October 14, 1995 by Bishop Jan Olshanskyi. Today, this grandiose temple building is the decoration of the city. But at the moment, the temple is constantly being improved.
