The world's first museum was born in 1471, when Pope Sixtus IV presented the inhabitants of Rome with a collection of antique bronze. It is located on Capitoline Square, designed by Michelangelo, in three palaces. The New Palace presents an exposition of classical sculpture. In the Palace of Conservatives there are world-famous ancient statues, a collection of paintings of the Renaissance, a collection of coins. The main part of the Palace of Senators is occupied by the City Hall of Rome, the first floor is reserved for the museum.

Wow! What a site to see Michelangelo's work in action. The bronze wolf with Remus and Romus right next to the square was so unique. The views up and down the steps to the square were very impressive as well.

Michelangelo designed hilltop square with great sculptures in the heart of Rome. It is a must visit. Do not let the steps scare you, it is worth the visit. Musei Capitolini is in this square as well so you have more stuff to see.

Beautiful square at the top Capitoline Hill, right next to the Capitoline Museums (also a must see). You get a nice view of Rome, and it’s even more beautiful in the evening, as the sun sets and the city lights up.

I feel like the square should be seen, and judged, apart from the museum. The square, designed by Michelangelo, is balanced, uniform, beautiful, and slightly boring, due to its uniformity. Open square at the top of a hill overlooking the Forum Romano. Why is this open space best in Rome? First, there is no traffic. No cars at all. You need to go up to the top of the hill and you have nice view from there on the town. On the top you have an interesting ground floor in the shape of ellipse and three palaces around. Central one is a seat of a mayor, on the left and right you have museum. Palaces are not too high and all form equilibrium. In the middle of the place is a bronze monument, a horseman, monument to Caesar Mark Aurelius. Guides will also explain you the symbols of the fountain and the sculptures of Castor and Pollux near the staircase.
