Gothic church of the late 14th century, located on the site of a former mosque. The temple was founded in honor of the expulsion of the Moors and the liberation of this part of Spain from Arab rule. In later centuries, the basilica was rebuilt in the Spanish Baroque style. Inside the church is a gilded altar from the 18th century and a valuable organ from the 16th century. The interior is decorated with elaborate statues of St. John and the Virgin Mary.

A beautiful church with jaw dropping altar. The audio guide came in different languages for foreign tourists; a good overview and insight into the history of the church. Inexpensive price. Worth a visit with the beautiful little square and the castle in thr background. They offer a 40 mins tour which we didnt take due to lack of time

The name Basilica is associated to the ancient Rome architecture and was meant a large public place or building.

very cozy and lovely church with a long history, it was a mosque in the past years but destroyed and then they started to made church in 14th century and that finished in 15th century. We visited a wedding there and it was lovely ?

5 minute stroll from our hotel. Free entry, but no photos allowed of inside. Was probably the warmest church I've ever been in! Beautifully ornate altar and brickwork in the entrance. Just what I go to see when visiting. ?
