The Cathedral of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, which is located in the center of Varna. It was inaugurated in 1886 in honor of the liberation of the city from the rule of the Ottoman Empire with the active participation of the Russian Emperor Alexander II, whose wife was an aunt to Prince Battenberg. In the architecture of the cathedral you can see the features of the Byzantine style, elements of Russian temple construction, and even some Gothic touches.

The church looks amazing, the bell ringing skills are amazing, the bells sound amazing, even after over 25 years of use! All and all, everything about the church is amazing except for the fact that the bells are automatic

Like most religious buildings they are both a place of beauty as well as worship no matter what the faith, and this Cathedral is no exception. Differing in the sense that the walls are painted with beautiful murals, I didn't venture too far as I.. You stand in awe of the quality of the interior, but like most of my visits to these places I don't have the time to take it all in. If you intend to see this building in all of its glory then please allow yourself plenty of time as, if like me, you get a kind of overawed by it all then time passes very quickly.

Cathedral is the largest church building in Varna and of the biggest in whole Bulgaria, with a long history. It is literally at the heart of Varna and one of the symbols of Varna.

Highly recomend this monastery to go in and stay for some time. The spirit can be felt in each corner. Paintings in the walls are very sophisticated and old which with combination of light and smell from oil lamps makes this unereputable senses.

It looks good and they have recently renewed the gold on top of the church but most of the time It's quite dirty and for the last 3-4 years It's been under construction.

A blissful place to pray!

Beautiful - outside and inside. Great Orthodox interior with multiple icons and drawings on the walls. If you are Christian do buy some candles at the entrance and light them up - usually the Orthodox people buy 2 each and light them up respectively .. If you wish to take pictures of the interior - do it very cautiously as it is not allowed (in general in the Orthodox churches it is forbidden unless you are granted a special permit during a wedding or a baptism). The most important historical achitecture of the city. It doesn't seem so big from the outside but when you are in, you can see the right measure. The acoustic is fine, echoes are not disturbing. You can see many visitors all day long there.

After seeing many Orthodox churches with Byzantine type icons, it was refreshing to see the iconostasis here covered with Renaissance type oil paintings. The murals on the walls also depicted scenes from the Gospels that I have not heretofore seen in hundreds of Western churches.
