The Cathedral of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, which is located in the center of Varna. It was inaugurated in 1886 in honor of the liberation of the city from the rule of the Ottoman Empire with the active participation of the Russian Emperor Alexander II, whose wife was an aunt to Prince Battenberg. In the architecture of the cathedral you can see the features of the Byzantine style, elements of Russian temple construction, and even some Gothic touches.
Very beautiful cathedral, recommend to go inside, for free. It took my breath.
Beautiful Cathedral with well preserved frescos and striking golden spires. If you take photos be sure to leave a donation and remember this is a place of worship first, tourist attraction second, so many people on our visit obscuring peoples opportu.. Read more »nity to pray.

In the same area, not far from the cathedral are the Roman baths or the archaeological museum that are in the area, which means that it is worth taking a tour of the area and seeing more
Beautiful cathedral in the middle of Varna.
I recommend to visit it in daylight.
This cathedral is from the outside very beautiful as it is from the inside. You can do your prayers.
I am the person to take advantage of the cultural and religious institutions. Learn and see new things.
This cathedral is small, but very beautiful
It is wonderful! We were lucky to hear them singing. I'd give 6 stars :)
Stunning interior and the entry is free. Should be on everyone's bucket list when in Varna
The church looks amazing, the bell ringing skills are amazing, the bells sound amazing, even after over 25 years of use! All and all, everything about the church is amazing except for the fact that the bells are automatic

Amazing architecture, truly fascinating culture. I am very happy to have witnessed this wonderful religious and sacred place!
Cool place. There are little palm trees near the cathedral and seagulls and cats all over the place.
Like most religious buildings they are both a place of beauty as well as worship no matter what the faith, and this Cathedral is no exception. Differing in the sense that the walls are painted with beautiful murals, I didn't venture too far as I.. You stand in awe of the quality of the interior, but like most of my visits to these places I don't have the time to take it all in. If you intend to see this building in all of its glory then please allow yourself plenty of time as, if like me, you get a kind of overawed by it all then time passes very quickly.
Cathedral is the largest church building in Varna and of the biggest in whole Bulgaria, with a long history. It is literally at the heart of Varna and one of the symbols of Varna.
Sadly it was in reforms, but seems to be a beautiful ancient orthodox cathedral.
VOAD x Rol
Sadly it was full in reforms, but what we saw was amazing.
Highly recomend this monastery to go in and stay for some time. The spirit can be felt in each corner. Paintings in the walls are very sophisticated and old which with combination of light and smell from oil lamps makes this unereputable senses.
It looks good and they have recently renewed the gold on top of the church but most of the time It's quite dirty and for the last 3-4 years It's been under construction.
One of my favorite orthodox churches in the city of Varna. This is the cathedral down town and it is simply stunning!
Now when now that it's being repaired it's not that fantabulous but still not bad.
I expirenced huge signal interference there btw with DJI Mavic Mini
An Orthodox Cathedral in Varna that's a MUST SEE objective. I came back this year and found it more beautiful, good preservation of the paintings, wonderful wood embroideries of the iconostaais and chandeliers.
A blissful place to pray!
Probably the most iconic symbol of Varna, the cathedral is located on a hill that can be seen from many parts of the city including the pier. It has fascinating architecture and decoration and it is free to visit. It is a must see for every visitor o.. Read more »f the city.
Beautiful - outside and inside. Great Orthodox interior with multiple icons and drawings on the walls. If you wish to take pictures of the interior - do it very cautiously as it is not allowed (in general in the Orthodox churches it is forbidden unless you are granted a special permit during a wedding or a baptism). The most important historical achitecture of the city. It doesn't seem so big from the outside but when you are in, you can see the right measure. The acoustic is fine, echoes are not disturbing. You can see many visitors all day long there.
Loved the place - a very ancient beautiful church. Very calm inside. On entrance, there is a helpful lady that explains the time table for different masses and sells souvenirs. Recommended for visit ??

After seeing many Orthodox churches with Byzantine type icons, it was refreshing to see the iconostasis here covered with Renaissance type oil paintings. The murals on the walls also depicted scenes from the Gospels that I have not heretofore seen in hundreds of Western churches.
