The first Russian drama theater for public visits, founded in the middle of the XVIII century by decree of Elizaveta Petrovna. A few decades after the appearance of the first building, reconstruction was carried out under the leadership of the architect K. Rossi. At different times, the most prominent Russian directors worked in the theater: V. Meyerhold, G. Tovstonogov, G. Kozintsev, N. Akimov.

If you have a good seat,it is a beautiful theater and Swan Lake was a very good performance.
almost every single ticket that costs 900 rubles is a ticket where you will not be able to see the stage.
But other than that,it was wonderful.

Nice place for ballet Swan Lake, I headed to the box office in the afternoon and got a ticket for the night by 3,000 rub. Really a traditional and famous theatre for the performance.

Saw Swan Lake as part of our tour. I'm no judge of ballet, but it seemed very good. The auditorium was beautiful, but getting in and out was a little difficult.

A beautiful and well maintained old theatre. We had difficulty in finding tickets online, it looked as if all seats were sold, however we went directly to the box office at the theatre and managed to get fantastic seats 4 rows from the stage. I think.. Read more » that many tickets sold online are through agents who are only given a selection, so don't despair if you can't find anything, even on the theatres website. If you attend the 1pm performance with children, know that many Russian families take snacks of bread and fruit so feel free to do the same, in the passages. The balcony seats to the left and right have very limited views and most people were standing. See photo for example. The performance of Swan Lake was amazing and magical.
