The area where at the beginning of the XIX century Kaiser Wilhelm III received Emperor Alexander I. The place was named in honor of the Russian monarch. On the square there is a town hall, a modern TV tower, a fountain of Friendship of Peoples. Until the XVII century there was a market and a place for the execution of criminals.

Beautiful Christmas markets. The lighting was so beautiful and the store lineups were pretty cool too. It’s easy to just walk around and reach several outlets that tickle your fancy.

It's iconic. Maybe not to stay, but as a modern central hub, giving a view to both sides of cold war Berlin, it's a place to visit. The TV tower is fun, buy tickets in advance for a great view.

Very nice lively and clean. The amount of people gathering at this public square is astonishing. Many cafeterias restaurants all the major clothing brands and pubs. On some days they have festivals or events and it's very interesting.

Beautiful thing to see when in Berlin, many food/ drink places nearby so you can easily spend half of a day here. The fountain is beautiful and definitely visit the TV Tower; even though I never went up as it was €25!

Large area with lots to look at. I walked around with my partner for a few hours in the drizzle through markets, shopping centres, and pop up food stands. You can make an afternoon out of all the monuments in the local area as well, would recommend.

A transportation hub that is very well connected to the other parts of Berlin. The TV tower is a landmark of the square and the city as well. Many retail stores can be found here. The square though, is not as clean as we wish.
