The Oude Church is the oldest building in Amsterdam, dating back to the 13th century. Originally a Catholic church, it later became Protestant in the 16th century. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful stained glass windows and a room with red glass. The church also houses important paintings by renowned Dutch masters like Rembrandt and Bartholomeus van der Helst. With approximately 16,000 people buried beneath its floors, each grave is marked with a dedicated number. Visitors can explore the church and learn about its history and highlights through the audio guide available in six languages. The entrance fee is reasonably priced at 13.5€. While the church may not have many rooms or galleries, it is definitely worth a visit. Visitors have praised the Oude Church as an unforgettable experience and have found the audio guide helpful in understanding the city's history. The church's staff members are knowledgeable and offer informative tours. The Oude Church is highly recommended for its historical significance and unique features, including its floor tiles. Visitors can also climb the tower for panoramic views of Amsterdam, gaining insight into the city's architectural landscape. While the Oude Church is currently undergoing renovations, it remains an important cultural and historical landmark in Amsterdam.

This church is fairly unique. They provide an audio guide for further explanations about some of the church items and areas. The entry is pretty expensive for what you get in my opinion.

Maybe I came at the wrong time but the church onside was a bit empty and there was just one exhibition. I thought it would be more a space for contemporary art but I guess it’s still a must visit place in Amsterdam.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The church was beautiful and vast. Not a lot on the inside, but I think that is the beauty of it. Had a free audio guide about the history of the church and it’s architecture

A little disappointing. For the money there was not much to see inside. A vast, open, empty church. No pews, no artworks, no music. The floor is amazingly entirely composed of tomb covers. No doubt, very historic, but I did not stay very long. Audio .. Read more »

Beautiful church with a vast historical background. The stained glass windows are beautiful! There isn’t too much to do inside, so I would suggest visiting when there is an exhibition going on, to have more to see.

This was great! A must see if you love history/art/architecture and are in Amsterdam. I also did the tower which was a great experience. The church itself has markings of family crests all over the floors and some curious artwork inside.
