Jaroslav One of the worst airport experiences I’ve ever had.
Make sure to come in advance as you will most likely need all the 3 hours that are recommended.
.. Read more »First, the security line was so long that they had to manage who can even go to the second floor. Only 5 people every few minutes were let in.
Secondly, after waiting for 30 minutes in a line, our friends were not let in the check because they had digital boarding passes and had to go down to print them. (What airport in the 21st century requires a printed ticket?)
Last but not least a blatantly racist security check. If you are not white, prepare to be under extra scrutiny. They checked my passport for 15 minutes, and had 4 different people coming in to take a look at me and my girlfriend. The policewoman was even obviously writing on WhatsApp to figure out what to do with us. This pattern repeated with other not-so “white” folks that I saw in other lines.
This is really an unfortunate conclusion to my trip as I only had good experience with the Georgian (especially Tbilisi) people as they were warm, welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, the exact opposite is what you will receive from the airport staff.
