Their mother attempted to save them by sending a golden ram across the Black sea to catch them but her daughter fell off the ram as it was flying back and only the son returned to Colchis. This is where the story of Jason and argonauts and their quest to recover the fleece begins as they venture into Colchis to recover this relic. Medea is a figure that helps them get it. The whole square is lovely! :)

Impressive statue and you will have great views from it over Tbilisi. There are stalls around from snacks, drinks and souveneirs. Take the cablecar down into the old city. It offers great views.
