Piazza del Duomo

Piazza del Duomo is a must-visit landmark in Italy that will leave you in awe. Located about an hour train ride from Florence, this square is home to three iconic structures that are sure to take your breath away. The highlight of the square is, of course, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Its unique tilt draws all the attention, allowing you to wander around the rest of the space in near solitude. But don't be fooled, there is so much more to see here. The main cathedral building, with its magnificent presence, is a sight to behold. Take the time to admire its rises and awnings, and you'll see that it was a welcoming sanctuary for monks a thousand years ago when it was built. The bronze doors, though often overlooked, are enormous and beautifully detailed. As you explore the square, you'll come across the Baptistery, another stunning building. Its white marble columns and intricate design will leave you in awe. Keep in mind that the area is popularly known as the Field of Miracles, but unfortunately, you aren't allowed on any of the grass, at least not during the summer. However, do keep an eye out for the fallen angel statue, as it is a unique sight to behold. Piazza del Duomo can get quite busy, but the views of the duomo and the tower are worth it. Just be aware that food and drinks can be more expensive the closer you get to the piazza. Don't worry, though, as there are plenty of shaded areas to take a break from the sun. Visiting Piazza del Duomo was a truly amazing experience for me. I visited on a sunny day in August and the square was bustling with people from all over the world. Despite the crowds, I was able to find a spot to stand and appreciate the incredible sight of the Leaning Tower. It was even more impressive in person than in pictures. After admiring the tower, I took the time to explore the other buildings in the square. The Cathedral was a stunning example of Romanesque architecture, and the intricate sculptures on the facade were a sight to behold. The Baptistery was equally impressive, with its grandeur and elegant design. I spent a few hours in Piazza del Duomo, taking in the beauty of the structures and capturing memories with my camera. It was truly a unique and special place, and I highly recommend visiting it if you find yourself in Pisa.

Great place. Keep in mind that buying all inclusive ticket in the ticket ticket shop is always cheaper. Also when you go inside the museums you get different views on Pisa tower and etc.

Highlight of the trip. Beautiful structures. Didn't know that there were two other beautiful structures in addition to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Wish I had enough time to explore all 3 structures. Definitely a must revisit location.

Icons don't get much more iconic than this. It's worth going up the tower for the view at the top, and just to say you have been there. The church the bell tower is for is impressive too, and definitely worth a visit.
