North Harbor Lighthouse

Gdansk, Poland

The North Harbor Lighthouse is a fascinating piece of history that is definitely worth a visit. Although it is small, it has a unique and atmospheric charm. Unfortunately, we missed the drop of the time ball, but the visit was still enjoyable. The view from the top of the lighthouse is great, offering a panoramic view of the surroundings. It is important to note that payment is only accepted in cash, preferably in polish zloty (PLN), as they do not accept card or Euro. Despite the slight inconvenience, the visit is definitely worth it, as the lighthouse looks amazing and is a must-visit historical site. The North Harbor Lighthouse offers the best view throughout Gdansk, even surpassing the view from the tower of the Mariacki Church. It provides a calm and serene atmosphere. However, getting to the lighthouse can be a bit tricky, but it is absolutely worth the effort. The historic building itself is impressive and the top balcony provides stunning views. It could benefit from some more attention to its exterior and perhaps some shelter from the sun. Remember to bring cash when visiting this historic place and enjoy the beautiful view it offers. For tourists, the North Harbor Lighthouse is a great place to visit and is a must-see attraction. It is a truly historic place that holds significance in the history of World War II. The war started from one of the windows of this lighthouse, and a monument has been placed in the spot where the first bullet hit. This monument is visible from both the window and the top of the lighthouse. If you are in the area, definitely make a point to visit this historic site.

Love it, the view is the best throughout Gdansk (sorry, wieża kościoła Mariackiego) and the calmest one. Yet, it is quite tricky to get to the place in the first place. But totally worth it.

Beautiful, one of the most historical place in the world. The lighthouse where the firsts shots of the the second World War were fired. Well mantained. The time bowl still works: goes up then down every day at 12, 14, 16 and 18. If you're lucky .. Read more »

An old light house also kept for navigation time keeping. The ball on the top of the light house goes is raised to the top exactly at 12, 2, 4 & 6 hours. Some 100 steps to the top and gives quite good views of the Gdansk bay.

We visited as part of a circular cycling route. Glad we came across it but would have been disappointed if had made a special trip. Its not expensive (by UK standards) but time you've paid the entrance for a family of 5 its not good value. All y.. Read more »
