The Monastery of Ayia Napa is a must-see attraction that offers visitors a glimpse into its rich history and cultural significance. Although it is not open to the public on a daily basis, there are various events that take place both inside and around the monastery, particularly during the bustling summer season, as well as during Christmas and Greek Easter. These events provide a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant atmosphere and traditional customs of the region.
The monastery itself boasts an impressive architecture and exudes a sense of tranquility and serenity. Its beautiful bell tower, which has recently undergone restoration, adds to the overall charm of the site. Outside the monastery, visitors can enjoy a peaceful park area and a lovely fountain, providing a picturesque setting for relaxation and contemplation.
However, it is important to note that the monastery is currently closed due to ongoing renovations, with no estimated reopening date provided. This has been a disappointment for many visitors who were eager to explore the interior of the monastery. Nonetheless, the surrounding area still offers a pleasant walking experience, allowing visitors to observe the monastery from afar and appreciate its historical significance.
One aspect to be mindful of when visiting the area is the proximity of the monastery to Agia Napa's lively pub and club scene. While some may find this appealing, others have expressed concerns about the noise and cleanliness of the surrounding area. It is advised to exercise caution when walking in the vicinity, as broken glass can sometimes be found on the streets.
Despite its current closure, the Monastery of Ayia Napa remains a cherished landmark that holds great cultural and religious value. Its unique architecture and historical significance make it a worthwhile destination for visitors, particularly during special events and celebrations. Those who have had the chance to visit during such occasions have described it as a truly enchanting and beautiful experience, and highly recommend it to others.

A stunning and interesting look into the past. There are a lot of works going on around the grounds to preserve and restore the site, but we still had access to the chapel and some of the grounds. A really beautiful historic place!

During the day, it is a tiny area in the middle of the seediest, tacky bars I have ever seen. The chewing gum on the floor were the only safe bits to stand on. It a tragedy that the town planners let the area around this beautiful old complex become surrounded in this way. Very sad.
