The Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Sumy is an Orthodox cathedral that holds great historical and architectural significance. It is the first stone building in the city and is a remarkable example of Cossack Baroque architecture. Although the original appearance of the cathedral has been lost due to numerous reconstructions and restorations, it still showcases the traditional techniques and features of Ukrainian architecture.
The cathedral is a three-story, three-aisled building with a unique two-tiered structure. The lower church is dedicated to Andrew the First-Called, while the upper church is dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ. The thick walls and deeply incised windows serve as evidence of its past as both a holy monastery and a defensive structure. Additionally, the cathedral features a separate bell tower built in the Baroque style in 1906.
While the historical significance and architectural beauty of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral are undoubtable, some visitors have had mixed experiences. Some have praised the friendly priests and clear service, while others have expressed disappointment with the staff's attitude and the church's maintenance. However, regardless of the feedback, many people still consider the cathedral to be the heart of the city and a place worth revisiting. With its rich history and cultural importance, the Holy Resurrection Cathedral stands as a testament to Sumy's heritage.

The Church of the Resurrection is a three-story, three-aisled building that belongs to a particularly valuable type of church, which harmoniously combines traditional techniques and features of wooden and stone Ukrainian architecture.
The architectural and planning feature of the Church of the Resurrection is its two-tiered. The lower (warm, "winter") church was consecrated in the name of Andrew the First-Called, the heavenly patron Andrew Kondratiev, the upper - in the name of the Resurrection of Christ.
The church was not only a holy monastery, but also a defensive structure, as evidenced by the extremely rough walls (their thickness reaches 1.5 m) and deeply incised windows. The large basement had underground passages to the river Psel.
The original bell tower of the temple was a tent. It adjoined the main volume of the church. The new, now separately located temple bell tower was built in 1906 in the Baroque (Neo-Baroque) style.

I have the impression that she is doing us a great service. Sorry, but we paid 900 hryvnias for everything (and this despite the fact that we did not choose the most expensive icons). There are rumors that they should not take money for baptism at all. But that's another topic.
In short, I felt as if I owed something to that grandmother or did something bad to her. Thank God, the priest quickly baptized the child (well done) and we left. I have never felt so bad in the temple.
They just made money on us there and left a negative impression on their staff and attitude to the parishioners.

I love this temple. The priests are always as friendly as possible, at the service it is always clear what is being said. Pleasant atmosphere.

This is not a congregation, but a church. Due to the clumsy power of the city and the "clergy" of this church, the architectural structure is not experiencing the best of times. You would at least normally paint the roof. Shame.
