Spent about 4 hours hiking from Bronson parking lot and back. The view was amazing but it’s super host despite being February. We hiked to the view point, then back to take the trail up to Mt Lee summit.

I highly recommend that you forgo the usual instagrammable moments in front of the sign and instead go up the hill so that you can be right up behind it... It's an easy stretch of the legs, approximately 6 mi round trip if you begin near the bat caves in Bronson Park, and anyone who is accustomed to doing some moderate physical activity should have no trouble getting up to the top.
I can get up and back down in less than 2 hours, but I'll be honest... I move fast. Plan on taking at least 3 hours if you're going to meander, and especially if you're going to stop and take pictures at any of the several scenic turnouts.
Word to the wise: bring water! Even if it's not a hot day, you're still going to want a drink of water along the way, and there is none.
Are we clear on that? Bring water.
Also, It's become a very popular place... Plan on having lots of other people around: maintain your social distance, be sure to wear your mask, and just deal with the fact that there's a lot of other human beings on this hike with you.
It's all worth it, especially when you catch a glimpse of the sun glinting off the distant Pacific, or you see a hawk catching thermals, swooping and swirling against that wild blue sky...

The Sign is visible from afar, seeing it from a good viewpoint is better than up close, as it is 45 feet high (13.7 meters) when you are close to it you will not be able to view it.

If you insist on getting close to the Sign you have to know that it is illegal to come close to the Sign except from behind, make sure to find the best trail and follow the legal trail, and do not wander around, finally the hike is difficult so prepare yourself with good hiking shoes and lots of drinking water.

Beautiful and iconic place to visit while in LA. The views of LA from this hill is amazing even though the city is covered most of the time with a dense fog that makes it not always completely clear except in perfect weather conditions. TIP: To get here just type in your Google Maps app 3390 Deronda Dr as your destination and follow all the instructions, the road is winding and gets really tight in some parts so don't go too fast. Ignore any sign that says there is no access to the sign, when you get there, at the end of your trip try to park in a legal place not obstructing the driveways of the people living in the area, you'll see a metal big white door with some warning signs, just ignore it, on your left side you'll see a little concrete entrance painted in white as well, go through it and you'll see right in front of you a path to get to the sign, if you are a hiker and want to get a much closer view of the sing you can keep hiking and if you don't, after a few steps you'll get a really nice position close enough to take perfect pictures of the sign and the city as well. Exciting experience. I loved it. If you visit LA this is a must do.

You can follow a paved path all the way from the park at the base of the mountain. It is a won.. I would come either early before it gets too hot or in the evening before the sun sets. Just a heads up, there is a no drone zone all along the hike so don't lug one all the way up there to be disappointed you can't fly it!
