Berlin Tegel Airport has received mixed reviews from travelers. While some appreciate the convenience and efficiency of the airport, others have had negative experiences. The airport's security lines can either move smoothly or at a slow pace, depending on the staff overseeing them. Terminal C's restrooms have been reported to be in questionable condition, while Terminals A and B are generally clean. It is unfortunate that the same level of care and professionalism is not consistent throughout the entire airport. The amenities at Terminal C departures are limited, with only a kiosk selling sandwiches and muffins. Duty-free shopping options are also disappointing, particularly for those looking for cigarettes or tobacco. On the positive side, the airport is commended for its strict but friendly staff. It is recommended by some for its convenience to certain suburbs. However, others criticize the airport for its outdated appearance and lack of shops. Despite the mixed reviews, the airport is generally described as easy to navigate, clean, and with a relaxing atmosphere. Some travelers express a desire to pass through the airport again, while others feel it is the worst airport they have encountered in their travels. In September 2020, the airport had fewer passengers due to the ongoing pandemic, resulting in shorter queues and efficient check-in. However, some passengers were dissatisfied with the restrictions on terminal access and the behavior of certain staff members. Overall, Berlin Tegel Airport has its pros and cons, and opinions vary depending on individual experiences.

It’s certainly not the worst airport I have ever flown out of, but there are a number of areas that could use some improvement. And similarly, all the rest rooms in Terminal C tend to be in iffy condition (if you know what I mean), whereas Terminal A & B is generally spotless. It would be nice if the same level of care and professionalism could be extended across the entire airport rather than disseminated in a seemingly arbitrary fashion. 2.5 / 5 stars —> rounded up to 3 / 5 overall.

For a city as big as Berlin I am surprised the airport is so bad. Terminal C departures is literally just a room with a kiosk in the middle of it selling sandwiches and muffins. Small and best airport in Berlin! Quick check-in and security checks and so close to Berlin City (in less than 30 minutes!) It will be greatly missed when it's closed down end of this year!

Quite indifferent staff. Small and boring. The interior of the terminal I've been in to is A02 or 3 for LH2049 to München.

Gate changed and this was announced only verbally at the luggage checkin. On the display, the other gate was shown. The baggage check in was not done through the counters near the actual gate, which would make sense. They should keep the information in sync. And perhaps the hiring standards and criteria should be revised.
At hand luggage verification/check many people have cut in line. Right in front of me. They basically shoved themselves in front. It seems that they were part of the plane staff. They should have made a designated path for the staff. It's very rude to cut in line.
Oh and you must also show your boarding pass at the hand luggage check. They dismissed one passenger because there was something wrong with his boarding pass. This might be justified, but it's not expected to be in scope of this check phase. There should be signs or posters advising people to prepare their boarding passes.
The staff asked to see my backpack as it came out the X-ray thing. "Do you have three lighters ?" she asked. Big deal I thought. "Yes I do" I said. "You can carry only one". And then she made me choose one out of my three very nice lighters. Another guy took the lighters from her and threw them in a storage box. They should put a sign at baggage check in stating that only one lighter is allowed. Please put the rest in your checked in luggage.
Small waiting area, limited shops, no smoking area (even though it was announced that smoking is allowed only in designated areas).
Some displays don't seem to work showing only "NO STREAM".
Of course I needed to show my boarding pass again when boarding time came. But before I got the chance to show her my boarding pass, I was asked to wait. She went to talk on the phone. Came back after few minutes. All I needed to do is to scan the barcode.
Automated counters should have been installed, and the people should be called in only when there's an emergency or something.
While getting on the bus, the driver went out for a few minutes himself. He texted on the phone something.
Pluses: The toilet seemed to be clean. There is a quite nice seating area upstairs, which very few people use. Good thing they have neat USB charging ports. Too bad the nice place upstairs is not handi-accessible..
I'm writing this, because, at the time writing this, I was very, very, very bored in the airport and anyway, nobody will read this. But this review is intended for the airport management.
Please revise your process, raise your hiring standards, this airport is one of the saddest I've ever been to.
I'm feeling a bit concerned about the profesionalism of the staff involved. How do you ensure the safe operation of this airport?
Later edit: 20 mins late for take off. I don't care if I will miss my connection. I just want them to take it slowly, and figure out correctly all the pre-flight procedures and stuff.
