Batumi Central Mosque
Batumi, Georgia
4.7 / 66
The Batumi Central Mosque is a nice and comfortable mosque located in the city center. It is open for tourists to visit and explore. The call of the maghrib prayer (Azan) is particularly amazing and can be heard throughout the busy area where the mosque is situated.
This mosque has a long history and has been well-preserved. It also has a dedicated section for women. Although it is clean, some visitors found it to be a bit small. However, during the summer, the mosque was generally satisfactory.
Unfortunately, starting in September, the mosque began broadcasting prayers at a very loud volume at 5:45 every morning, causing inconvenience to those who had to wake up early. Some visitors expressed a wish for more consideration towards the non-Muslim population of Batumi.
To enter the mosque, visitors are required to wear long trousers and socks. The mosque is well-maintained, but it was suggested that the authorities clear the adjacent street from cars during Friday prayers to improve the overall experience.
Overall, the Batumi Central Mosque is a nice, clean, and beautiful place with friendly people. It is conveniently located close to the main road, and bus numbers 1 or 10 can drop visitors off near the mosque. However, some repairs are needed to ensure its long-term preservation.
Visiting the mosque provides a peaceful experience, and its old and beautiful architecture should not be missed. Additionally, the Azan calling sound is a unique and memorable aspect of the mosque. Nearby, there are also restaurants where visitors can enjoy a meal after their visit.
