Bashta Stefana Batoriya

Bashta Stefana Batoriya is a truly wonderful city. One of its most prominent features is the big tower that stands proudly, guarding the northern part of Kamianets-Podilskyi for over 450 years. Built in 1565, this tower replaced the old entrance gate from the 13th century and is part of the defensive fortifications known as the Upper Polish Gate. With its impressive height and five tiers, it exudes a sense of grandeur and strength, showcasing narrow loopholes and a formidable appearance. Despite its historical beauty, the tower is unfortunately not well-maintained. The road leading to it is challenging to navigate, and the car we used barely made it. It is evident that this outstanding city has not received the investment it deserves, relying solely on tourists for its upkeep. This lack of investment is evident in the state of disrepair and the need for reconstruction. Nevertheless, stumbling upon the tower is a unique and unforgettable experience. Walking along the street, it suddenly emerges from around the corner, emanating power and grandiosity. The tower, along with its remaining walls, is located on the edge of the mountain, providing a stunning backdrop. Surprisingly, it is not as well-known among tourists as it should be, considering its beauty and historical significance. While the entrances to the tower are welded shut due to the urgent need for restoration, one can still appreciate its spaciousness and beauty from the outside. The surrounding buildings and crampedness may obstruct a full view of the tower, but its charm is undeniable. For those seeking a memorable weekend getaway during summer, Bashta Stefana Batoriya is a good choice. Despite the need for restoration, the tower's ruins exude an awe-inspiring atmosphere. I, for one, am eager to return to this remarkable place and explore it further.
